Have you been spending too much time inside? It’s no wonder. It was such a hot summer that you probably wanted to spend your days soaking up the AC. Well, the weather is finally cooling down, so it’s the perfect time to enjoy some outdoor fun. That means a trip to the Reynolds Nature Preserve in Morrow is in order. The 146-acre preserve is the perfect spot to get up close and personal with nature. Throw on some hiking shoes, fill up your water bottle, and head to the preserve. You can easily spend a full day out here.
Take a Relaxing Stroll
The Reynolds Nature Preserve has more than three miles of hiking trails. These trails aren’t really meant for exercise, though. They’re meant for getting in touch with nature. As soon as you step foot on one of the trails, two things will become clear. The preserve is so much quieter than the city, so you can finally slow down and relax, and the smells are amazing. The fresh flowers are so fragrant that you’ll feel like you’re standing in the middle of a botanical garden instead of a nature preserve.
As you hike along the trails, keep in mind that there aren’t many trail markers. You’ll come across some signs at the intersections, but you do need to pay attention. If you’re concerned about finding your way back, you can grab a trail map. Maps are located in the parking lot.
The Reynolds Nature Preserve is an excellent spot for birding. You will see an assortment of cardinals, bluebirds, woodpeckers, and more. You might even spot an owl or hawk. If you’re new to birding, download a birding app so you can identify the birds and keep records on your phone. Keep coming back so you can spot all the birds in the area.
Check out the Turtles
The Reynolds Nature Preserve is full of wildlife, but the turtles might be the most impressive. Head over to the pond to watch the turtles swim by. If you have kids, they will absolutely love this. It’s so cool to see turtles in their natural habitats.

Head To the Interpretive Center
While some nature preservers are unstaffed, that’s not the case here. If you go into the interpretive center, you’ll find guide and wildlife on display. Go in to see snakes, birds, and other cool species. You won’t just get to see them, either. The guides will be happy to teach you about them. Just keep in mind that the interpretative center is only open on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You will love spending time in nature at the Reynolds Nature Preserve. When you finish up there, though, you will want to slide behind the wheel of a nice vehicle and go home. You can do just that when you get an upgrade at Hennessy Automotive Group in Atlanta, Georgia. We have vehicles for all tastes and styles, so come and see us today.
